Practical Shooter App Privacy Policy

1. Information used by the app

Account and private app content

If you create an account, Firebase Authentication processes your email address and Firebase-generated user identifier. Private app content can include verifier records, stage scores, learning progress, saved events, preferences, competitor identity and selected matches. This content is associated with your account for app features and synchronisation.

Device and service information

Limited device, app-version and diagnostic information may be processed to deliver updates, diagnose problems and protect the service. Optional product analytics are designed not to include email addresses, names, aliases, search text or rule content.

Rules Assistant questions

When you use the Rules Assistant, your question and an app-generated client identifier, plus an optional discipline selection, are sent over HTTPS to the Practical Shooter Rules API. The API searches rulebook material and sends the question with relevant rule context to Cloudflare Workers AI to generate an answer. The app request does not include your account email or competitor identity. The service uses the client identifier for request-rate limits. The API is hosted on Cloudflare; its service and diagnostic log retention depends on the provider’s applicable settings and terms.

Voice features

Voice input and read-aloud features can use speech-recognition and speech services provided by the operating system or device platform. Speech processing may occur on your device or through its speech provider, depending on the device and settings.

2. Shared Match Catalogue and CAB Imports

Structured match data

When an authenticated member uploads a WinMSS CAB export, the Practical Shooter Events API validates and parses it into structured match data such as event name, date, discipline, division, stages, competitor results and scores. The catalogue exposes parsed match data rather than a public download of the original file.

Names, results and private selections

Competitor names, aliases and results may already appear in the uploaded source and can be visible to catalogue users. We do not enrich those records with a member profile. In particular, your saved competitor identity and selected-match list are not published to other users.

Validation and corrections

Uploads are checked for supported format, duplicates and internal consistency. A match may be flagged, corrected or restricted when an issue is reported. We may retain restricted ingestion data and audit information as needed to validate, correct, secure and operate the catalogue.

Your responsibilities

Only upload a CAB export that you are authorised to share. Do not include information unrelated to match scoring or information you do not have permission to disclose. Report privacy or correction concerns using the contact details below.

3. Video projects and local storage

The video editor stores imported footage and project data locally. On iOS and Android, app data uses ordinary app storage and video files are copied to app storage; on the web, app data and video files use browser storage, including IndexedDB. Project data can include project settings, artwork, audio-waveform data and timeline choices. Exported files are saved locally by the app or browser.

Video projects and footage are not uploaded to our account services by the editor. They remain on the device or in the browser profile where they were created. They are not removed when you sign out or delete your Practical Shooter account. Delete a project from the video editor and remove any exported copy separately; clearing app data or browser storage also removes local content. Device or browser backup settings may include locally stored app data.

4. Storage and security

Firebase Firestore stores account-linked app data with security rules, and Firebase Authentication manages account credentials and tokens. Native app preferences and other small app records use AsyncStorage; browser app records use IndexedDB. Video files use app or browser storage as described above. Local files and preferences rely on the storage protection provided by your device or browser.

Network requests from the app use HTTPS/TLS. We do not store plaintext passwords.

5. How information is used and shared

We use information to provide and improve the app, support multi-device sync, respond to support requests, maintain security, diagnose problems and prevent abuse. We do not sell, rent or share personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing.

Each provider processes information under its applicable terms and privacy practices. Provider retention depends on the service configuration and applicable terms. Contact us with questions about a particular request.

6. Retention and deletion

• Account-linked private content remains until you delete it or request account deletion, subject to applicable backups and legal requirements.
• Published match records may remain in the shared catalogue while needed for catalogue history, subject to corrections, restrictions and privacy decisions.
• Signing out does not delete data already stored locally on your device or in your browser profile.
• Deleting your account removes account access and triggers deletion of associated Firestore records within 30 days. It does not delete local video projects, footage or exported files; remove those from the device or browser separately.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access personal information, request corrections or deletion, object to or restrict certain processing, ask us to review a published match record, or complain to a supervisory authority. Email app@outdoortechnica.com to make a request.

8. Children’s privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information so that we can review the request.

9. International transfers

Service providers may process or store information outside your home country, including in the United States. Their applicable contractual and legal safeguards govern those transfers.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect app changes or legal requirements. We will revise the date above when it changes and communicate material changes in the app or by email where appropriate.
