Getting started

Start with the part you need

Use Practical Shooter to study rules, analyse match results or edit videos with analytics overlays. You can try the web app as a guest; some shared and account features need sign-in.

Open the web app Choose a download

Find and keep a rulebook

  1. Open Rules and choose a discipline and edition.
  2. Search sections, glossary entries and appendices, or follow linked references. Save useful sections to favourites.
  3. In the mobile app, open Rules → Manage rulebooks to download an edition for offline reading. Web rulebook content is streamed and needs an internet connection.

Compare available editions to review changed wording. See all features and recent release notes.

Import a match for analysis

  1. Sign in and open Account → Competitor identity. Add the names and aliases used in your results, with your preferred name first.
  2. Open Analysis → Browse match catalogue. Search for a match, competitor, discipline or division.
  3. If your match is missing, use the upload prompt inside the catalogue and select a supported WinMSS CAB export. Accepted results join the shared match catalogue.
  4. Use Compare on matches containing your saved name or alias to add them to your analysis. Return to Analysis and choose a discipline and division to review your selected matches.

Only upload a CAB file you are authorised to share. Catalogue match results are shared with users; your saved competitor identity and selected-match list are private to your account. Read the privacy information.

Edit a video with analytics overlays

  1. Open Video overlays from Home or Analysis. Guest access is available.
  2. Import a local clip. Detect audio to review suggested shot and buzzer times; keep or dismiss suggestions. You can also seek and add shot or start markers manually, then refine them on the timeline.
  3. Choose Stage HUD, Performance or Doom styling and enable on-screen analytics such as timers, shot counts, splits, scoring and hit factor. Adjust the placement of each element and add scoring data when using score overlays.
  4. Trim the clip, choose portrait, square or landscape framing, then check a five-second sample before exporting an MP4 with your overlays.

Projects and footage stay in local app or browser storage and are not account-synchronised. Video export availability depends on your browser or installed app version. Use the web editor for the current workflow. See video help for format and file limits.

Read an article or take a quiz

  1. Open Learn → Articles to browse as a guest or signed-in user. Search or filter by topic, then follow category and topic links for related reading.
  2. Sign in and open Learn → Quizzes. Choose a topic, discipline and difficulty from the available content.
  3. Resume an unfinished quiz or start a new attempt. Review your answers and explanations, then open previous attempts from the quiz card.

Quiz access and saved attempts require an account. Published topics and content languages depend on what is available. Explore the learning tools.

Choose your app language

  1. Open Account → App Language.
  2. Choose English (UK), Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), French or German, or select Device language.
  3. Open Rules to find matching translated editions where available. Expand the English source in rule details when you want to check the original wording.

Changing the interface language does not translate every rulebook, article or Assistant answer. Rulebook translations vary by discipline and edition; learning content and Assistant responses retain their source languages.

For spoken Assistant answers, open Account → Assistant Voice to choose an available English voice and adjust pace and tone. These choices stay on this device. Voice features depend on device and browser support.
